Rep. NortonRepresentative Kim Norton Receives 2014 Child Advocate Legislator of the Year Award

Recognizing the importance of restoring Minnesota’s newborn screening program, Rep. Norton (DFL-Rochester) served as chief author of House File 2526, positioning MN to save as many lives as possible. Amid a fast-paced session with the spotlight on numerous other issues, Rep. Norton remained committed to moving the newborn screening bill through the legislature and fended off amendments that would further weaken the program. As the vice-chair of the Health and Human Services Finance committee and mother of four children, she is a strong champion for pediatric issues and was a founding member of the legislative work group on childhood obesity.
